WORKSHOPS & CLASSES
WITH THE OKA TEAM

Hosted at Oka or in partnership at your organization’s home arena

Skaters need continuously evolving skills to grow in our sport — across all tests, levels, and stages of development. Our workshops and classes are designed to provide a clear purpose, help skaters refine their technique and deepen their understanding of their training to help athletes continue building those skills throughout the season.

These shorter-format experiences allow skaters to stay engaged in their development while focusing on specific areas of growth through structured sessions led by Coach Mal and the Oka coaching team.

We have tried several different sports and this is the one sport that Blayke is excited to go to every single day! She wakes up asking if she gets to see coach Kass and “the Öka girls”. The support and love all these skaters have for one another is honestly amazing! My daughter loves to go because of who she gets to see and hang out with on the ice! The older girls act like big sisters to her, they teach her new skills on the ice; she loves the challenge and it makes her a better skater! Öka is our home!

Enhancing the athlete within for skill-focused, on-ice figure skating development.

Workshops and classes offer concentrated, skill-focused figure skating development through short-format training experiences designed to complement a skater’s regular training.

Sessions may be offered as one-hour intensives, single-session classes, recurring class series, or focused sessions lasting a couple of hours, giving skaters the opportunity to dive deeper into technique, refine specific elements, and gain new tools they can apply to their everyday training.

Depending on the focus, sessions may include on-ice instruction, off-ice learning, or a combination of both. Skaters work closely with Coach Mal and the Oka coaching team in an encouraging, high-energy environment that supports curiosity, effort, and progress.

Workshops and classes are hosted at Oka or offered as a guest in partnership with other clubs and organizations.

SUPPORTING SKATER DEVELOPMENT

After participating in Oka’s workshops and classes, skaters often feel more confident in their edges, body alignment, and their ability to apply technique independently. These sessions help athletes better understand the purpose behind the skills they’re training so they can approach practice with greater intention and clarity.

Figure skating is a uniquely beautiful sport. Not only does it require the strength and power of an explosive athlete, but also the artistry and grace of a true performer.

That balance is developed over time. Skills are earned through consistent work, discipline, and perseverance—through showing up, pushing through challenges, and learning from each step along the way. This process builds more than technical ability; it builds confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation that supports growth both on and off the ice.

At Oka, we believe in training with purpose, care, and intention—meeting skaters where they are while helping them move forward with confidence.

Let’s build that foundation together.

June Figure Skating Begins

Ice Times

June ice times give skaters the chance to log 12+ hours of open ice across the month. Athletes typically receive 2–3 on-ice training sessions each week, with each session lasting about 20–30 minutes, depending on their level. Final schedules are confirmed once registrations are in, and June Ice will only be held if we meet the minimum number of skaters, so save your spot early!
