JOIN OKA FIGURE SKATING FOR

Pre-Season Training

september 7 - October 16, 2026

Build skills, gain confidence, and make the most of extra ice time so skaters can start the main season ahead.

Start the season ahead of the competition. Extra ice now, confidence later.

Imagine stepping onto the ice at the start of the season already feeling strong, confident, and ahead of where you usually begin. While many skaters are just getting back into routines, preseason athletes will already have weeks of extra ice time, sharper skills, better stamina, and more confidence from consistent training. That early momentum can make a huge difference all season long.

These extra six weeks of practice can help skaters improve jumps, spins, skating skills, and overall consistency before the first competition and test session event even arrives. Instead of using the early regular season to “get back into shape,” athletes can be prepared to test sooner, compete earlier, and feel ready from the very first event. This is the kind of head start that can set the tone for an entire season.

WHO is this for?

  • Figure skating athletes in Basic 4 and above.
  • Skaters who practice independently and are actively pursuing development in the sport.
  • Skaters working on U.S. Figure Skating tests, including skating skills and dance.
  • Skaters who want to be ready to compete earlier in the regular season.
  • Skaters looking for additional ice time to improve skills and consistency.
  • Motivated skaters looking for extra ice time to improve skills, consistency, and confidence.

WHAT to expect

This ice session is structured much like our regular advanced program ice sessions (for the Lake Region Figure Skating Club in Devils Lake, ND). Registered skaters use the full ice surface to practice independently while lessons take place throughout the session. This is a focused training environment designed for athletes who are serious about improvement, skill development, and making the most of their ice time.

what's included

  • Estimated 24-30 hours of ice time over 5-6 weeks (based on projected enrollment and pending final number of skaters registered)
  • 4 small-group lessons with Coach Mallory (20–30 minutes each) focused on skating skills, strength, and coordination.
  • Add-on private lessons available with the coaching team for whatever your skater wants to focus on...start choreography for programs, work on jumps or spins, or get a head start on testing levels.
  • Extra weeks to improve before the regular season starts.
  • Focused training alongside other motivated skaters.

Why Starting early matters

When the regular season begins, preseason skaters won’t be using the first few weeks to get back into shape, they’ll already be progressing. With extra ice time and early training behind them, skaters can build momentum faster, feel more confident, and be better prepared for competitions, testing, and new goals sooner in the season.
